fishing rules
Please follow the rules, respect the fish and the venue and I’m sure you’ll have a wonderful time at Field Aston Reservoir.
RULES
- Only those anglers, guests and their vehicles booked on are allowed on site. Anglers must not allow access to anyone else and the gate must be locked at all times. The lake, carpark and facilities are monitored by CCTV for the prevention and detection of crime. Anyone not booked on caught visiting the site will be treated as trespassers.
- Bookings are non-transferable.
- Please drive carefully and be respectful to local residence and farm staff when using the lane to access Field Aston Reservoir.
- All anglers must have a valid EA rod license.
- No boats or bait boats allowed
- No swimming.
- Do not walk up or down the dam walls they are steep, slippery and uneven, please use the roadway or steps
- Do not go near or fish in the stock ponds they are out of bounds.
- Under 18’s must be accompanied by an adult at all times and under 16’s must fish in the same swim as the accompanying adult.
- No drugs or excessive consumption of alcohol. Antisocial behaviour will not be tolerated.
- No firearms or weapons of any kind.
- No Littering.
- Bivvies only, no tents allowed. Please fish from designated swims only
- Strictly no chemical toilets allowed on site.
- No radios, fires, or continuous lighting.
- BBQ are allowed but please keep them raised off the grass. Please do not throw the ashes on the grounds dispose of them sensibly.
- Please do not climb trees, cut or damage any flora or fauna. Please look after the building and facilities and report any accidental damage to staff as soon as possible. Any malicious damage will be reported to the police.
- Barbless Hooks Only.
- Use of OMC’s ” The Magic Twig” is NOT permitted.
- No 360 rigs or long shank curved hooks, Ronnie/spinner rigs are allowed
- Landing Nets, unhooking cradles, weigh slings and wetting buckets will be provided by the fishery and must be return prior to leaving at the end of your stay. Please don’t bring this equipment to site.
- No keepnets or carp sacks permitted on site.
- No rods are to be left unattended or left in the care of another angler.
- All leads must be able to either release on the take, pull free easily from lead-clip or fished helicopter / free running. Nothing “fixed” to the line behind the lead system.
- No leadcore.
- Minimum of 18lb breaking strain mainline.
- No braided mainline other than on marker or spod rods.
- All spods, spombs, bait rockets etc. must float.
- No shelf-life boilies except hook-baits. Please use good quality freezer baits
- No nuts
- All particles must be properly prepared.
- No high oil pellets between 1st November – 1st April each year.
- Zigs are allowed on one rod only with a minimum 10lb line.
- Please do not bring fish from other venues on to site. Live baits are NOT allowed.
- 1-4 anglers can use maximum of 3 rods (provided they have the correct EA rod license).
- If you are sharing a swim 2 rods only.
- Anglers must have a fish care kit with them, there is plenty of depth in front of the swims to allow the fish to recover (no more than 10 mins) prior to lifting out for photos and weighing. Photos must be taken over the mats/cradles and returned as quickly as possible.
- Rigs will be checked. Any angler caught breaking the above rules will be asked to leave immediately without refund.
